THE HISTORY OF THE KIMCHI FESTIVAL
What began four years ago as a modest Kimchi workshop and Korean cultural showcase has rapidly blossomed into a cornerstone event, drawing thousands of visitors to Love Park each year. The Kimchi Festival offers a unique and comprehensive immersion into Korean culture, presenting everything from authentic cuisine and mesmerizing traditional dance to engaging folk games, dynamic K-pop performances, and exquisite arts and crafts – all in one unforgettable location
KIMCHI MATTER: Uniting Through Sharing
In 2013, Korea’s ‘Kimjang Culture’—the profound tradition of making and sharing Kimchi—was recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This powerful designation highlights that the very act of preparing and sharing kimchi embodies universal human values: the spirit of neighborly generosity, the unbreakable bonds of family, and a deep sense of societal solidarity.
UNESCO lauded Kimjang as a living culture, gracefully passed through generations, creatively harnessing nature’s bounty, fostering communication across diverse communities, and continually evolving while honoring its roots.
